Member Meeting – Forest Pests
November 8, 2017 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm
Kevin Mathers will talk about two non-native forest insect pests, the emerald ash borer and hemlock woolly adelgid. Both have recently infested the trees in the Southern Tier of NY and Northern Tier of PA. Ash and hemlock trees are common in our forests and their demise will likely lead to significant ecological impacts. This presentation and discussion will provide some background information on these insects, their current status, and some thoughts on how they may alter our forest ecosystems.
Kevin is the Extension Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County.
