FROM THE TRIPLE CITIES TO THE TROPICS

Tim O’Hara is the founder, owner and director of Rancho Mastatal, a sustainable living and education center located in the small rural community of Mastatal in Central Costa Rica.

Toucan_webTim will share the unique story that brought him from the Triple Cities to rural Central America and will tell listeners about his efforts to create a project that positively affects the lives of thousands while working towards achievable small-scale solutions to some of our planet’s toughest challenges. He will cover a vast array of topics including permaculture, tropical agroforestry, biochar, natural building, conservation, Costa Rican protected areas,regional food security, the role of animals in tropical food systems and more. He will also talk about Rancho Mastatal (http://www.ranchomastatal.com) which is an environmental learning and sustainable living center and rural sanctuary located in and on the edge of the last remaining virgin rainforest of Costa Rica’s beautiful Puriscal County. The Ranch practices, promotes and teaches about living responsibly in the tropics while educating its visitors about the significance of the world’s disappearing tropical forests.
