Lang Elliott Recording and Appreciating the Sounds of Nature
In this presentation, Lang will summarize how he records and appreciates the sounds of nature, contrasting two basically different approaches that complement one another in the grand scheme of things. During the talk, Lang will demonstrate and discuss the equipment he uses, with emphasis on the various microphone setups. He will also play a number of field recordings and discuss what excites him about each.
Lang Elliott is a well-known nature recordist who has been active in the field for nearly thirty years. He is the author of numerous guides to the sounds of birds and other wildlife sounds. His recordings are featured on the National Audubon Society website and in numerous birding apps for mobile devices. These days, Lang is busy preparing to launch a podcast series in which he will share the fruits of his many recording adventures. Lang lives in Ithaca, New York with his partner Siobhan, and spends lots of time up to his neck in muck and grime.
